Wildflower Friday

Happy Black Friday! What did you do today? Did you shop? Did you continue to sleep off all of the food you consumed yesterday?
Will and I haven’t had our Thanksgiving yet. That’s going to be tomorrow with our Edinburgh family! I can’t wait. We’re also having an “open-house” Thanksgiving lunch for our neighbors to meet them. Crossing my fingers more than 1 person shows up.
Anyway, even though Thanksgiving isn’t really a holiday here in the UK I took Black Friday off. I didn’t have any plans except to lounge as much as possible. And clean, for tomorrow. But mainly lounge. And loung I did. I also caught up on all of my blogs, one of them being Wildflowers Photography and coming across her camper van reno and pictures of her family’s camper-holiday. Now, I had blogged about wanting a camper van to travel whatever landmass my family and I are living on at the time and here is someone doing just that! Ugh, be still my anxious heart!

*Note: These are all Joy’s pictures from her blog.

Amazing, right?!

Dear Will,

You better believe I’ve already mapped out our first two camper van holidays… no matter how many kids we have and what age they are… oh, and the dogs are coming too!

Your love,

Jackie

Alnwick

First of all, the name “Alnwick” is not pronounced at all as you would think. And secondly, it has one of the largest (and coolest) second-hand book shops ever! Oh, and third, anytime with Vanessa and Cameron is a guaranteed good time! Guar-an-teed!

I loved walking into the book store because the first room you walk in to is full of those paper globe lights that IKEA sells. They’re really overdone, in my opinion (of course I have 2 in my flat right now, so, I’m going to shut up now) but their ceiling was FULL of these paper lanterns. I loved it!

There were rows and rows and rows of books. We could have stayed there all day if we had had the time. There was also a cafe which looked so cozy. If I lived in Alnwick I would definitely frequent Barter Books and make it my go-to chill spot.

The town was really cute. tight roads, cozy cafes, and colorful shops.

We didn’t get a chance to go into the castle but we had heard that it’s one of the favorites in England: next time.

After walking around a bit we settled ourselves into a Costa to before heading home. These are my favorite times. Times when you’re spending all day together and as that time comes to an end we’re looking for any excuse to delay it and keep hanging out!

I enjoyed Alnwick a lot. It was nice to see a different part of England other than London. We’re eager to explore more of England!

Cowabunga

So, Will and I went surfing a few weeks ago! Yeah, I always imagined that my first time surfing would not be so far north of the equator but, it’s happened. AND, I get to mark this off my 29yr old to do list! Win!

After walking around Dunbar for a bit we went to Belhaven Bay, to get our rentals from Coast to Coast, and have at it.

And there you have it. Sorry for no actual surfing pictures, I was a little busy surfing. Well, more like just doing pushups. I ended up standing up for .4 seconds. Will did stand up and ride a wave and since we “became one” when we got married his success is my success. That’s how it works, right?

Leith

Will and I have used up most of our Saturdays going to the charity shops. We have a ton of things we’re looking for (i.e. large armchair, writing desk, end tables, spice rack, picture frames, etc.) and know that Leith is a goldmine of Charity shops.

Oh, yeah, and we bought a pumpkin and carved it with some friends in Bruntsfield!

And while we were in Bruntsfield we had to stop by Falko, of course!

Maintenance…

Dear wonderful and lovely readers,

I’ve recently come across a problem on the blog: my pictures aren’t showing up!
Seeing as this is the main reason why I have a blog, to SHOW you all my wonderful life, I have been taking some time to fix it. Of course, if I’m honest, this means it’s going to take a while because not only do I not have the time but I also don’t have the brain power to figure this out a faster way than re-uploading my pictures.

Cheers!

Jackie Kelly

P.S. Please take this picture of Edinburgh from Calton Hill as a token of my appreciation of your patience.
